Updates

I know I don't post much of substance any more, but I simply don't have the time or energy to devote to making regular entries here. If there are any readers remaining out there.. thanks for sticking with me!

Student teaching has been a roller-coaster of an experience. There are moments I want to run away from the profession as quickly as possible, and other moments where I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life. I have found that as I settle into a routine, things become much more manageable and less daunting... which is true of life in general. I have been very fortunate to have the co-operating teacher with whom I have been working with, as well as the rest of the fantastic and friendly faculty. I will miss them all terribly when I leave for my next placement in two weeks. And then the whole process starts all over again.

We have this week off from school, which I have been loving. Oh, the simple joy of being able to stay up late and sleep in late again!! How I have missed you!! I have been doing a whole lot of nothing, aside from sluggishly grading papers, and catching up on lesson planning. It's nice not to be rushed with deadlines.

I spent a few hours today visiting my Aunt Karen at Kenmore Mercy hospital. She has parkinsonism disease (a faster acting and more sever form of Parkinson's). She went in with a blood infection, which has to be monitored and treated with antibiotics as it can potentially be fatal. The poor woman suffers so much now as the disease takes its toll on her. She was in good spirits while I was there, and I enjoyed the talk we had.. swapping teacher stories (she was a math teacher for over 20 years). After I left her room, I stopped off at the Chapel to say a prayer for her. I had to also thank God for the good health I have always had. Sometimes we don't stop and appreciate what we have until we lose it.

Bomb?

We had a bomb threat today at the school I student teach at. Let's hear it for standing in 20 degree weather with no coat for twenty minutes!! Yay!!! Thankfully we were relocated to the designated facility for the rest of the time we had to wait for the school to be secured. Wasn't the most fun, but we were safe and WARM.

If they ever find the little f****r who called in the threat, I hope he or she has to stand in a meat freezer for punishment!!! >:-O

God forgive me, I think Drew Carey is sexy.
